Hey guys,
I have a fairly outdated pc with a seagate hard drive. It is a seagate barracuda 7200.12 320gb hard drive. I know thats very less.
The problem I am facing is that windows is installed on this drive and when I boot my PC, the drive vanishes from the BIOS while loading windows.
So windows give BSOD and when I check in bios, the drive is not there anymore.

I have tried another hard drive and that works fine. I have also tried changing sata port on my system, changing the sata cable but the problem stays the same.

I have searched a little and found that there is a firmware issue with 7200.11 and 12 but I dont know if this is what the issue is.

The drive is not making any clicking or buzzing sounds and it stays spinning when the issue comes.

I hope to get helpful suggestions from the community.

Hey there, Attiqfsd.

Do you have data you want to recover from that drive?
Try it out with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. If it's recognized and if you don't need to recover data, go ahead and download the manufacturer's diagnostics tool, so that you can test it and see if there are any errors or bad sectors.
Other than that, if you do think that there might be an issue with the model of the drive, it might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer's customer support directly and ask for assistance.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Yes it appears on first boot. The windows starts to boot, BSOD comes and at 2nd boot disappears.
1 day before the pc was working fine but it crashed and then I checked next day and this was issue.

Other 160gb sata hdd and Sata DVD Writer works fine on same PC. So I think its not an issue with the PC.

Thanks for the suggesion. Yes I have data on that drive which I need to recover. I just checked hdd fail percentage by manufacturer and I think seagate is not reliable anymore.
Won't suggest seagate to anyone anymore.
