I have recently installed a 2TB Seagate Barracuda hard drive, and it is not being recognized by disk management. I am unable to format the drive for use because it is not detected. The power to this drive is provided by a cable with multiple serial connectors that powers the primary C: drive (working). The SATA cable could be the problem, but I don't think this is likely. I have not checked to see if it is recognized by the BIOS.
I have read articles with similar issues, and the most common explanation is that the drive has a physical defect or something along those lines.
I mainly want to see if there are any other avenues available to troubleshoot this before scrapping the drive and starting from scratch with a new drive.
Could this be a problem with SATA 3/6? I think this is also unlikely, but I am open to anything at this point.
I greatly appreciate any assistance/input with this.
