Hello. I have three Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS's, and normally I've only seen the hard drive temps be around 32C. Suddenly, now they're all around 50C. I was wondering if this was bad, and if it was only because I put all the hard drives together nearby in one pc (instead of separate pc's). And I was also wondering what the highest temp these hard drives (or generally any hard drive) should go?

heres a link to the drives specifications on seagates site, which includes rated operating temperatures, and other info too

most likely youll see a temperature jump like that if the drives are in close proximity to one another, a way to fix that some, would be to either space the drives apart more, or include a fan or 2 more blowing directly across the drives themselves

Very silly to put hard drives together when you can space them out. Otherwise you have a server environment and you should have a dedicated fan just for the hard drives in my opinon. The lower the hard drive temperatures are to room temperature, the less likely you will have data corruption or errors.

ENVIRONMENT
Temperature
Ambient operating temperature (min) 0 degrees C
Ambient operating temperature (max) 60 degrees C
Ambient nonoperating temperature (min) -40 degrees C
Ambient nonoperating temperature (max) 70 degrees C
Maximum operating temperature change 20 degrees C per hour
Maximum nonoperating temperature change 30 degrees C per hour
Maximum operating case temperature 69 degrees C

yeah... it would seem thats right, when the drive is on anyhow

Yea, silly me. But I already screwed in the hard drives and I'm too lazy to open up the comp and change them around if it's not that serious of an issue 😛
