I'm looking for a good 2TB drive for my computer. I've looked at a few drives and it seems that the Caviar Black and Barracuda are the most popular ones. They both seem to have the same specs however the Barracuda is half the price of the Caviar Black. Is there a unique thing that the Black has that the Barracuda doesn't have?

Thank You.

Seagate

Somewhat better performance and a MUCH better warranty period.

If you want better reliability, go with the black drive.

Edit: WD is an older version, so will have comparable performance.

Thank You. I think I might go with the Seagate drive though because it's much cheaper and I already have an SSD for my OS and Programs. I'll be storing my games on the HDD and I don't think it will really make much of a difference (correct if wrong). Again, Thanks :)

In terms of performance in games, you won't notice a difference. I would still suggest you do backup somewhere, but if it's only the OS, games, and applications that you're okay with having to reinstall if the drive fails, then it won't make a difference between barracuda or the black drive.

Ah you're right, I didn't catch is was the older model.

You should really store your games on the SSD. That's the whole point of having a super-fast SSD - it makes everything load faster & run smoother. It can cut load times down significantly.

Items that you don't need very often (like pictures, videos, music, etc.) are good candidates for a 2nd HDD; however, programs (and a game is a program) can benefit from being on the SSD.
