Hello,
-recent had a bootkit whistler virus which appeared to be causing failed startup of OS. When hard drive was removed from USB, the computer started as normal. Once virus was removed external HD was not operating.

Previously my external HD (Seagate Freeagent Go Flex 500gb) portable drive worked and was recognized without issue.

Now "My Computer" only indicates "Local Disk E".

Computer Management indicates 465.76 gb Healthy- thats all. Drive should have only 200-300 gb free, not the full 465.76 gb. Does not indicate anything regarding whether it is NTFS formatted or not, just blank.

Device manager indicates Seagate Freeagent Go Flex USB Device at location "0"

No yellow triangles anywhere on the system.

Tried it on another computer and still same issue

Computer running Windows XP sp2
30gb hd

just to add a little more to the issue.

Uninstalled the driver to see if this was an issue.

When plugged in the drive again, the new hardware found box appears on the bottom right hand side of the screen with the name of the drive "Seagate Freeagent Go Flex", this however is immediately followed with another new hardware found box indicating "Drive E".

Any help would be appreciated
