Seagate 7000.12 500GB hard drive

hard drive stops psu when it is connected to psu. So is there any chance of repair or data recovery from the drive.

You can attempt to buy a board from eBay and try.

or you can call a data recovery company, they will want usd$hundreds, just to look at it.

You've got it completely backwards.

There are plenty of reputable data recovery labs that will charge you nothing to do a diagnostic evaluation.

Swapping the logic board without also swapping the ROM chip/flashing over the adatives data doesn't work on modern drives anymore and even if done correctly you have no guarantee that the drive doesn't have other problems with the heads, pre-amp, etc...
