I'm happy with just 80GB of storage on my SSD... All my actual files are on an external HDD. So as a power-user I can honestly say "No, I want speed".

I would like to point out that if HDD hybrids were the future why then are all the other companies making larger storage ssd's?

I see still a long time till the demise of the HDD, so I'm not worried about HDD companies going out of market anytime soon. Most people that say SSD is the future and capacity is enough for them still use the cheap HDDs for backups and to store big data (pictures, movies, ...). And don't forget that not all computers out there are laptops or desktops there are huge computer systems with thousands of HDD, replacing all that storage by SSDs is prohibitive, having hybrid disks might be a good way to have a performance/capacity/cost trade-of.

Eventually HDDs will be replaced by some future tech (and that tech may not even be SSDs), but it's amazing that HDDs have been able to keep with technology and have been with us for almost 60 years.

With the lowering prices of thumb drives that are 4gb to 64, solid state isn't so bad at all despite small capacities. Much of the massive amounts of data like installation files or music and video could easily be kept on those to be used on any home/work mac/pc, rather than one huge external or internal drive. I keep music and important files on my 8gb sticks, saves space on the laptop. besides home networks are moving towards networked storage.
