[SOLVED] Seasonic Prime TX-1300 - orientation?

I am installing a Seasonic Prime TX-1300 PSU on the left side of a Lian Li DK07 Desk Case. The left side of the case has filtered ventilation holes at the PSU's location. I'd think the side of the PSU with the fan opening should face the case's ventilation holes, so it can draw in cool air from outside the case and exhaust it out the back.

However, the PSU's manual seems to say that the ventilated side of the PSU should face the motherboard. If the PSU is installed this way, that would make it draw in hot air coming off the GPU and/or CPU, and there would be no point to the cases' ventilation holes at the PSU location.

Am I not understanding how PSU airflow works?

In what orientation should the PSU be installed?

Yes. The opening for the fan should face the ventilation slots in the side of the case, and the PSU should vent OUT the back of the case. In the vast majority of modern cases it is not recommended to have the PSU intake drawing air from within the case because using already heated air to try and cool the PSU, except when absolutely necessary, tends to contribute to premature PSU failure from heat fatigue.

If in fact the manual says that, I'd ignore it. But I'll take a look just to make sure although it doesn't change the fact that there would be no point in there BEING ventilation slots there if the other side of the PSU was up against it since the opposite side of the fan intake is a solid panel.

Yes, that would be how I'd have done it as well, seeing that the PSU has it's own filtered air intake.

Nice touch, having the video start where it clearly shows the PSU orientation. Thanks!!

Aaaand, I don't see anything in the manual that indicates that. But even if it did, understand that often the instruction manuals that come from Chinese manufacturers are in "Engrish" and the content is not always to be trusted. In some cases, it's simply outright wrong and common sense must prevail.
Thanks for taking the effort to review the manual. TBH, I'm not exactly sure what it says.

The important part of the Seasonic manual's instructions is: "Due to the different varieties of case layouts, however, please also consult the case manufacturer's instruction manual for more information." Plus the pictures seem to be old holdovers from the days when the top and bottom of a case did not have any ventilation openings.
