I just finished a new build with Windows 8.1. I installed the OS on an SSD but when I plugged in a 1 TB HDD it doesn't show up. I can see it in the BIOS but I can't find it anywhere in the Disk Manager to partition it.
If it's in BIOS Setup, is REALLY should be in Disk Management. But you need to look in the right place. In Disk Management, it will only show up in the LOWER RIGHT pane. And, that pane SCROLLS so you can see all it has.

Mmm...when you look in Disk Manager, does it not show up as an uninitialized disc? If so, right click and initialize the disc. Then you can create a partition and format.

I'm having the same problem and its not there at all! i have scanned for new disks and nothing. it does not it in disk management. and i looked all over that page and even scrolled down to make sure.
Jesscoth77, please check and verify: Is the new disk that you can NOT find in Disk Management showing up properly in BIOS Setup? Is its port Enabled there?
