My first monitor uses a VGI that, when connected, works perfectly. When i connect my second monitor (VGA input HDMI output) both monitors switch off. When I connect monitor 2 (VGA-HDMI) itself my computer doesn't detect it at all.

I have a GTX 1070 Graphics card (Nvidia - Just updated to most recent driver)

How can I get these both to work?

Solution
What "adapter/converter cord"?

A simple adapter won't do it. It needs to be an active converter cable. If the second display has any connector other than VGA, use that.

First off, there's no such thing as VGI. There are:

VGA
DVI
HDMI
DisplayPort

VGA carries an analog signal.
HDMI carries a digital signal.
The two are not compatible. You need an active converter to change the HDMI (digital) signal to VGA (analog). If the second display has any other ports (DVI, HDMI, Displayport - all digital), you should use that port instead.

Awesome wolf. My mistake, the first is a DVI haha. Yeah the HDMI to VGA cable is an adapter/converter cord.
