First of all don't mind the mistakes, I'm not a native speaker.

Okay, so I got a second monitor recently and I tested it on my laptop, it works perfectly, as soon as I try to plug it in to my pc, it doesn't work. I have tried about everything, looked through every forum post, and still can't find an answer. When I plug in the monitor to my desktop, it shows no signal, but as I said, I don't have that problem when plugging it into my laptop.
The monitor only has a VGA cable, and we are using an adapter to plug it into the HDMI port of the graphics card. (rtx2070) It works on the laptop perfectly.

Edit : The HDMI port on my GPU works perfectly fine with my main monitor, I just tested it.
Edit: Tried everything on the internet, spent over 5 hours. Nothing.
Edit: 100+ views, no answers, damn.

What did you try already so people are not just repeating what you tried?
Really the only way to see what the issue is would be to get rid of the adapter. Even though it worked on the laptop, it is still an additional thing that is in the way. What is the adapter brand and model?

I do not know the model, but its just some asus adapter, and I can't get rid of it cause my video card is too new for a VGA slot.
Things I have already tried:
Checked if the HDMI slot of my pc works correctly.
Checked all of the wires, and if they work correctly.
Restarting my pc a numerous amount of times.
Tried to plug the monitor to my motherboard, but that doesn't work cause I don't have a integrated graphics card.

The most interesting part of it all is, that my pc detects the monitor fine, and I can screenshot, and put files on that other display, move my cursor to it, even though the monitor shows no signal.
