Hi all,

I'm having a problem I hope you can shed some light on. I have Windows XP
w/SP2 running from a 74Gb S-ATA WD Raptor. As it refuses to let me install
my older IBM deskstars as well I have installed a second Raptor.
The problem is that although in BOOT up, when it shows the Silicon RAID
screen it acknowledges that there are 2 drivs in there, the second drive
does not show up in Windows.

I appear to have no way to format it or access it at all.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Does it show up in drive manager?

Yes, under 'Disk Drives' in Device Manager there are two identical drives
listed.

Can you provide more information? No options to create or dlelete
partitions? Basic? Dynamic? NTFS, FAT32?

There's no information of that nature there, just the usual box you
would expect to see in Device Manager saying the device is working
properly, there are following tabs available:
General,

Policies (no selectable options),

Volumes, which after pressing the 'Populate' button provides the
following data;
disk - Disk1,
type - Unknown
status - Not Initialized
partition style - Not Applicable
capacity - 70904 MB
unallocated space - 70904 MB
reserved space - 0 MB

SCSI Properties, with two unchecked boxes 'Disble tagged queuing' and
'Disable synchronous tranfsers',

Driver (all the usual Driver Details and Roll BAck buttons,

Details, a huge drop down menu of details about the device such as
'Device Instance Id' SCSI\DISK&VEN_WDC_WD74&PROD_0GD-00FLA0&REV_21.0\5&
82F5F2C&0&100 - but nothing really useful.

I would assume that this drive needs formatting or something of that
nature, as it seems that Windows is 'seeing' it alright, but I don't
know how. When I went into the Silicon RAID setup during boot-up, there
was the option to perform a 'low level format', but there didn't appear
to be any way to select which one of the 2 drives to format - not
useful!

Ah, now I understand. If you right click on "my computer", then select
"manage", there is a MMC called "Disk Management" in the left hand column.
If you select this, it will allow you to partition and format your drives.

Thank you very much for your help :) I hope you're as happy with your
