Hi guys, forgive me if this is not the exact right category..

I'm currently looking to upgrade my gaming setup in generel.
Going for an RTX 3080, i712000k, 32gb RAM, what I would call a pretty decent PC.

Here is what I need help with though.

I want to have a second screen and keyboard/mouse set up in a different room, at around 15m distance.
Basically a setup that I can plug in whenever I want to game from this room instead of my "normal" gaming room.

Which video cables should I use?
Is there anything that I should consider before just buying a monitor?

I'd like to play at 1440p at around 144hz as I do today.

Any tips?

Solution
for a wired approach;

you can find long enough HDMI cables to run that length to the secondary display.
and you can find USB extension cables and/or hubs that will also.

as long as the display is turned off it shouldn't be detected by the computer.
you could just power it on and then switch to the main screen you want to use through Windows Settings.

if you have a USB hub with an on/off switch you can do the same with it, just power on when you want to use it.

just make sure you purchase quality cables/components that have multiple customer reviews stating they work in a similar scenario to what you need.
and that whichever retailer has a good return/refund policy if they end up being DOA or not transmitting adequate bandwidth...

there are many cable vendors out there trying to cash in on high-bandwidth HDMI needs by selling lots of junk.
took me three different tries last year to get a 30' HDMI 2.1 cable that could properly run 2160p HDR @ 120Hz.
of course Amazon is great with returns and refunds and it cost me nothing extra but time and headache.
i actually got to keep one pack of 2x 20' HDMI cables for free that i now use on my lower bandwidth entertainment center.

Thanks for the reply, looking around I think the HDMI 2.1 cable is the right solution for me. I will also get a USB hub for my peripherals.

When looking for a second monitor. Do I need to look out for HDMI 2.1 support, or does that HDMI connection in the monitor not matter?

if the display is a 4K 120Hz or 2K 165+Hz it should have HDMI 2.1 as standard or it couldn't reach those bandwidths.
but if it happens to be a generic monitor or TV you may want to make sure first.

if this is going to be a media(games + video) display you may want to also look into some of the newer OLED TVs.
i have a secondary display connected that is a 4K HDR 120Hz G-Sync 55" LG CX and it is awesome for particular games and of course videos.
i use my 34" ultra-wide 1440p for the majority of games but it's nice to have the large 4K screen for certain racing , platformers, etc games.
