So my mom was the one who got me a graphics card and she doesn't game at all she uses Facebook and email and watches some videos

I wanted to for Christmas to upgrade her parts she has a amd quad core apu 6700 and wanted to get her a new motherboard and a 6 core processor so i was wondering since she doesn't game would a Rx 460 be god enough?

I am just simply wanting to upgrade almost anything but she already has 16gb of ram and a 256gb ssd and a 1tb had she doesn't save things on the computer just sits there on google chrome

Just looking for a cheap graphics card that can work for that and thinking the Rx 460 will be best but is there anything that would be better

What is the purpose of the upgrade, a 460 will allow you to game, medium-high settings at 1080p 30-60fps. But your mum doesn't game, so there is no point, ditto with the CPU upgrade, an upgrade will let you do intensive things better but nothing described is intensive. So you'll spend a load of money and she'll get no benefit.

If you are talking about upgrading it so that YOU can game on it, that's a whole different story.

Because i need to get her a better processor because she has problem with watching videos and i noticed when she goes to watch a video her cpu jumps to about 87 percent and she cant watch a video that well unless it is on YouTube so i am getting her a 6 core processor with no graphics and no i wont game i have a comeputer in my room already

She cant watch videos on Facebook and sone other websites that are linked fron facebook so i am getting her a processor but has no graphics option so i need some cheap graphics card to at least display an image

My brother who has a masters degree in this stuff has confirmed that i was the cpu with thermals being at about 42 degrees i will just go Reddit it to get an opinion on a cheap graphics card

I had the same problem with my apu back in 2012 so i got a graphics card and went amd 6 core and i could watch videos again

What folks are trying to tell you is that this is overkill for the stated uses if the system is configured and operating properly. There should be no need to spend additional money to perform its desired functions.

Feel free to spend your money as desired, but doing so may not solve the underlying issue.

Has this system been scanned fro malware/viruses? Is Windows up to date? Drivers up to date? Browsers, etc, all up to date?

A 6 core CPU is highly unnecessary for her uses. Something is not configured properly somewhere. That APU is plenty enough for her uses. I used to watch 720p/1080p, back in my anime downloading days, on lesser hardware than that. I had a Sempron 145 unlocked into a dual core, with my old HD 3870 512mb.

No virus's my brother went through it again we went out and found the exact apu on sale at a local store and replaced it we are having the same problem the videos are too slow or do not load at all

While the cpu keeps capping out at 95% and the thermals are just fine no signs of a virus or malware she has never Dow loaded anything either just what came on the PC no extra files just the cpu capping out problem

What are the actual specs for the system in question?

What operating system?

What anti-virus/anti-malware apps are being used?

As asked earlier, what is the speed (up/down) of the internet service?

I suspect that a fresh OS install and current drivers/applications updates will solve this problem altogether.

Assuming that the APU is this, AMD A10-6700. If so, how much memory do you have installed in the motherboard? Also, in the BIOS, how much memory is dedicated to the APU video adapter?

The internet is fine i watch videos on my computer all the time my internet has never actually went down here things load fairly quickly on mine and my brother has tried a fresh install about a month ago trying to fix the problem didn't do a thing and myom i believe uses Norton the OS is windows 10 and there is 16gb of ram the motherboard i am not sure my mom bought the computer from Costco like i said my brother has looked at everything there is a reason he has a masters degree in this stuff the apu keeps capping i had this same problem with my old computer I upgraded to a 6 core processor and got a 200 dollar graphics card i was immediately able to do what i wanted
