Hey guys/gals,

I've just constructed my new build and encountered an issue with the bios/installation of hard drives.

After having updated the bios for 14th(13th) gen cpu, ive went to install windows via the usb but, it failed during installing. After this I found myself unable to install on these partitions due to GPT format, then my next issue was that windows 11 wouldn't install due to not meeting the requirements ( Secure Boot).

However, the problem I am facing is that in secure boot mode... there are no boot devices shown in the bios and when i have cms enabled, only 1 boot device appears , which is the one that I have not been successful installing windows on.

I managed to get windows 10 to install using shift +10 during installing to convert another ssd to mbr and having booted into windows , i can see that a good portion of my disks are infact in GPT format. Im failing to understand that if these disks are in the correct format then why don't they appear in the BIOS ?
Are there perhaps other settings in the BIOS that need to be enabled/disabled in order for them to be shown?

To install windows 11, you have to
enable TPM - on Intel boards it's called Intel (PTT) Platform Trust Technology,
enable Secure Boot,
enroll default secure keys,
boot from install media in UEFI mode,
clean OS drive before install to remove all previous partitioning and data (using diskpart clean).

In UEFI mode you boot from Windows Boot Manager boot entry.

For UEFI mode only OS drive (bootloader + OS partition) needs to be in GPT partitioning.
Other secondary storage drives can be in whatever partitioning. It doesn't matter.

I don't know, where you expect those drives to appear. Probably looking in a wrong place.
Show screenshots from BIOS and Windows Disk Management.

And list model names of all your drives
or show screenshot from Windows Device Manager (disk drives section expanded).

Hi ,
Thanks for the post.

the only thing my pc wasn’t meeting requirements on was secure boot.

I’ve went back and attempted to install windows in secure boot using DiskPart and despite being converted to gpt, it still won’t work. Now a few are unable to be cleaned with it saying system partitions are on or something to that affect.

Another issue I’m facing is when I go back to attempting to install , it fails with “windows could not prepare the computer to boot in the next phase of installation”
No

I can’t figure how to override diskpart to clean these drives so I’m dead in the water.

Fixed!

Having done some reading, I removed all over drives and inputs and followed the diskpart steps for formatting. Perhaps the instructions for doing this I found online were incorrect but, ignored a few steps after converting to gpt and this allowed me to install 11 onto a drive.
