Hi I have an ssd and when I try to use the manufacturer software to secure erase my drive for resale it just blue screens my windows 10 and I have to reinstall my OS. Does this mean it has done successfully or is there something going wrong the manufacturer is hynix

If your OS is running on the SSD when you secure erase it, then it would make sense that it'll BSOD on you. Secure erase utilities from the SSD manufacturer will change the encryption key and make the drive effectively unrecoverable. But, if you're just using a sector wiping type of secure erase from a third party utility it's probably crashing before finishing the wipe.

How exactly are you performing this?
You should mount the drive externally to another computer, then run the oem software to secure erase.

And FYI just in case you do not know (or if someone else reads this latter), only use SSD drive utilities for Secure Erasing data as SSDs and HDD do this differently and doing a traditional secure erase on an SSD is not good for the drive.
