I hooked up a Belkin KVM switch betwen my Win 98 desktop and my Win XP
laptop, but when I switch to my laptop I'm getting double characters in all
my programs...... for example.... if I try and type something in Microsoft
Word all the letters appear twice......... The desktop is working fine......

You are seeing reflections due to low quality cables. Use proper 75
ohm cabling between your KVM switch and each PC. I had the same
problem until I made my own cables by cannibalising two old monitors.
