Hello Tomshardware,
My issue is that I am experiencing inconsistent ping in online games. What usually happens is I am playing with 50 or so ping, and every 10-30 seconds my ping will go to 80-120 and makes the game feel terrible until it goes back down and the process is repeated. I have a PC connected wireless two floors up from my router, and I share the network with two others whom have Xbox One's, phones and an iPad, also wireless.
Now I recently purchased a new router which supports 5Ghz and moved my PC connection to 5ghz. The other devices in my home are on the 2.5ghz channel still, as I just wanted to see if this made a difference to my experience. My signal strength is 4/5 bars and I downloaded a programme called inSSIDer and it rates my connection at 100 and doesn't show interferences on 5ghz.
Now my internet speed is not a good one, although it is the best I can get on my ISP. However the issue still occurs when people are not even streaming videos or doing anything more than browsing on the internet. I will be taking my PC downstairs tomorrow in order to test the connection via ethernet.
My specs and other information:
PC -
mobo - Asus z97-k
psu - superflower leadex gold 650w
network card - TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express Adapter
OS - Windows 7 home premium 64bit
Router: AC750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router Archer D2
Modem: Do not have modem.
ISP / Connection Type: Karoo / DSL
Devices connected to router: 7 (though not all used at once)
Thank you in advance for any suggestions on how I can try fix this issue.
