So I've narrowed down my search mainly to these two laptops as the best laptops with the gtx 970m price-wise:

http://www.amazon.com/G751JT-DH72-17-3-Inch-GeForce-GTX970M-Graphics/dp/B00OBQ5950/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

which turns out to be $1,786.99

and

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8651-clevo-p650se-eta-nov7-p-7690.html

which turns out to be $1487.99 when I configure it to have dead pixel warranty and an IPS screen along with 500GB samsung evo SSD

So clearly on paper the sager np8651 is better spec-wise and also price-wise than the asus g751JT.
However, I have read other forums where people say to go with the Asus because the brand is better build quality etc. I am not sure if that is worth an extra $300 for less specs though...

I would go with the Sager, however I have no experience with either brand and I don't know if sager is a good brand build-quality & quality-control wise. Online people supposedly say that Asus has the best build-quality. So which one should I go with? Or is there another even cheaper option of a laptop with a gtx 970m.

Sidenote: don't tell me to get a desktop please I already have considered that and decided to get a laptop even though it is significantly more expensive because I need the mobility.

Really I find xotic site quite cumbersome ... You need to read more carefully :). I didn't say the sale price was the same, I said the advertised price is the same.

Clevo resellers it would appear, are prohibited from **advertising** anything less than a stipulated amount. Of course, **advertising** and **selling** are two different things. I got a $150 discount on my last LPC purchase. More important however is post sales support.....and I find the high volume sellers to be inadequate in this department.
Since Asus doesn't actually build it, the Asus logo on it makes it any better. Asus laptops are made by Pegatron (Asus parent company) and Foxconn.

If you look at all the fancy boutique laptops like WidowPC, Falcon Northwest and even Alienware (before Dell bought them), they are all Clevo laptops (Sager being Clevo's retail arm). We have been using Clevo's for the last 10 or 11 years, main reason being you get to pick every component that goes in it and you don't get stuck w/ off brand stuff or 5400 rpm HDs

CLEVO is a large Taiwanese computer company specializing in laptops. While the Clevo brand name is perhaps not widely known, their products are re-branded and sold by known boutique brand OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers)… notably Sager, VoodooPC, Falcon Northwest, Eurocom, etc. They are also considered (by whoever knows about notebooks) to design and manufacturer the best of the best notebooks in terms of superior build quality and innovative designs.

Search around for various resellers tho .... in my experience, just about every Clevo reseller has the exact same price on their web page but a few of them will offer discounts that they don't advertise. It also helps when you deal with a smaller reseller as the folks, it seems, have more leeway than sites that have a massive sales staff and offer many brands for sale.

Not also that you can spend more to get a lower price.... sometimes different level discounts kick it at certain price levels (i.e. say $1250, $1500, $1750, etc) and if your build is $1735, upgrading ya wireless for $20, might get ya an extra $50 discount. Call your supplier for details.

We been buying ours here since 2005

Cool! I guess the XOTIC-PC site is the best option then. I'd rather use that website than lpc-digital since the price is the same but XOTIC has a much better and easier to use website
