I just finished building my first computer, and much to my disappointment, the monitor remained blank when I turned it no. I'm pretty sure everything is connected, because the LED in the case says that it is on, and all the fans are spinning. The monitor just remains blank, but according to everything else it is on.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

If the mobo has integrated graphics, try removing yours or just unplug the power cables. Try booting with just 1 ram stick, try another ram stick after that if it doesn't work.
Also try removing your CMOS battery for 10 minutes, rub it with a piece of cloth before you put it back in.
if it a newer haswell or skylake build or an amd apu build. pull the gpu and one ram stick see if you can get the mb to post with onboard video. look at the power good led on the mb see that it on and not blinking. look for any fault led on the mb. with first time build debug make sure the 24 and 8 pin power is connected and the mb is sitting on the case standoffs. look to make sure the io shield not shorting out the mb. if there no post pull the mb try posting it from on top of the mb box with one ram stick and power supply. if you have an asus mb with usb flashback port put the newest bios file on the mb using the usb flashback port.

I tried with the the cable plugged into the GPU and the mobo (not at the same time, obviously), either way it doesn't work.
