To be fair, the internet flourished before NN was enacted.

While I am all for equality on the internet, I do question something that the government is so involved in keeping.

I also wonder if they are so on about equality when will there be better competition in ISPs? We have two in Chandler, Cox and CenturyLink and the price isn't really getting much better. In fact my rate just went up after years of being the same.

I guess we will see in the long run.

Price going up should be expected due to inflation, lack of competition, and government oversight. The nice thing about communication companies is that they do not go up as much as utilities. The price on utilities goes up the maximum put in place by the government every year.

That's true. OTOH, if you look at the history of the Internet, it practiced NN because no-one had figured out the bright ideas of charging sites extra for being prioritized, blocking competitors' sites, and the like. IMHO, the Internet we all got used to was an even playing field with NN, where you could get traffic to some ridiculous startup like Google as easily as to an established company like AOL. This allowed the startups to flourish.

Legislating NN is an attempt to preserve that environment, rather than giving a chokehold on access and bandwidth to the established major companies that can pay for it.
