Sennheiser HD 429 Comfy for big ears?

So I'm looking to buy this and the egg shaped ear pieces is what I'm looking for. Is the sound overall good? Most importantly is it comfy for big ears?

If you have any other suggestions in the range of $50. Please go ahead

I have a pair of Sennheiser 518's and they are quite comfy; as well as more than enough room for my ears (I'm just over 6ft tall). The pad size looks to be the same between the two, just different material.
