Hi,

I have recently transported a business objects server to a new location and it all works fine, it can connect to the external data source.

But when it comes to using business objects on a desktop that connects to the server it does not find the server on the network.

Server name: TMCSERVER01

The old IP address was: 192.168.1.100
And the new IP address is: 10.10.100.3

I remember when we moved offices the first time and someone made a change in the windows command prompt but I can't remember the command they used.

is there any way of mapping the new IP address to the server?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Your office WINS server is the one that would translate the IP address to the name.

You can use the hosts file to force Windows to map the IP to the name, but that is on a per computer basis.

Does the desktop see the server on it's own? Can you ping it from there?

Thanks for the reply.

we can ping it from our own PC's using the static IP yes, we can remote desktop onto it too using this.

How do we access the hosts file to change the mapping?

Cheers
