Hello all, I'm new to this site but I figured this is the best spot for me to post this thread. I just replaced my evga gtx465 with an evga gtx570 HD. At some point I would like to get another one and SLI them but that's just too much $ for me right now. Anyway, I tried installing the 465 in the other x16 slot underneath the 570 and using it just for Physx but they were almost touching and the temp on the 570 got up to 97!! Is it possible for me to put the 465 in the first slot but still use the 570 as my primary card? Also, I found this very interesting: http://hardocp.com/article/2010/08/23/gtx_480_sli_pcie_bandwidth_perf_x16x16_vs_x8x8/ I know it's old, but it's still relevant. Maybe I should just put the 465 in x8 slot...

Check MOBO bios- on many boards you can designate which slot is primary. Using the second slot is beneficial as usually it will run cooler because there is more airflow available to the bottom card.

I understand you, technically there's no difference between X16/X8, maybe a punch of numbers if you run a bench program like 3D Mark, but in real world performance you won't feel any difference.
