Hey ive been reading up on increasing speeds on windows 7 and ive found alot of mixed opinions or facts so i figured i would just ask someone who seems to know alot. ok so i was reading about disabing page file to increase speeds in video games but i also heard it disables other programs from working too. so i figured to logical decision would be to set a custom virtual memory size, so my question is can you help me with the setitngs for the page file heres my specs

AMD phenom II X6 1045T processor 2.70 ghz
8gb RAM 64 bit OS
Nvidia geforce gtx 550TI

Solution
I don't know who says turn off page filing but they must not use their system like it's nothing more than a games console.(that's why you buy an xBox)

In windows page filing is must have.

Traditionaly page filing is set to 1.5% of your ram so 8gb would be 12gb of page filing.

Microsoft on the other hand would rather you leave it to windows in Win7
(see link and qoute from Microsoft Form below)
It's best to let Windows handle the pagefile size. Even with massive amounts of RAM, some applications and parts of the OS still rely on having that pagefile there. And Windows has gotten really good at managing the size with little overhead.

If you decide to do it manually keep this in mind.
(also from microsoft)
Should you get...
