I have an HP734n that had the on-board sound decide to stop working. No
problem right? I purchased a Creative PCI Sound card to replace the on-board,
plugged it into my open pci slot, installed the software and thought I was a
computer genius. Until I tried to use my scanner plugged into the USB. Then
I realized that anything plugged into the USB when the sound card is in the
pci slot will not work. Creative told me to assign the sound card to a IRQ 5
setting. It is currently set to IRQ 17, the USB ports are all set to IRQ 21.
How do you change the IRQ settings?
I have Windows XP Home Edition and SP2 installed. Every time I have gone
through the control panel to the system to
the properties to see if I could change IRQ settings and they are all grayed
out (I can't currently adjust anything).
Help, I need to use the scanner and have the sound for learning about some
graphic programs.
