I wish to pass display (and other I/O peripherals) from my main PC over a distance of 70-90 feet to another desk in my house. I know it would be easier to just have a laptop but a comparable laptop would simply cost too much.

My house has an existing UTP cables in walls but no room for additional dedicated UTP cables or HDMI cables.

Can I use an existing single UTP cable that I use for bringing wired internet connection to different rooms to also pass video of a single monitor? If yes, what equipment do I need to buy to set this up properly? Is there any alternative? What latency should I expect under or over 100 feet? Thanks.

Edit:
I came across HDMI Fiber Cable where $300 can get me a 160 feet cable (seems to work well except for 4K, found some cheaper options as well). So that would potentially solve my display transfer issue. Still got to check if mouse and keyboard can have cables that long.

Edit2:
  • Budget: $500 (depending how close to native performance I can get.
  • I do wish to control the PC from that remote location, not just have a video stream.

The overall requirement and budget need to be established.

Are you trying to "operate" your main PC from another location/computer?

Google "kvm over ip".

KVM being keyboard, video, mouse.

Yes, I wish to control the PC from that remote (in house) location. As for budget, I am ok upwards to $500 if I can get a native performance. Reading about KVM now... Having a bit of an issue with most of what I find being one set of KB, Mouse and Display switching between different PCs. My case is reversed, I will have 2 sets of KB, Mouse, Display and single PC.
