Heya. I put an SSD into my pc about 8 months ago and there was what I thought was improvment but was very underwhelmed with the results. My mate later decided to get opne put one and got the store to install it...Watching his pc start up and load files was amazing...I just assumed the pc would auto install it and there would be no bios settings to change...was I wrong?

Which SSD is it?

it takes me about 10 seconds (with also log in screen with password) to be in windows and be able to click stuff, with an 840 evo 120GB.

Are you 100% sure your OS is on the SSD? And that it is selected as boot option #1 within the BIOS?

actually has a lot of relevance... not all sata ports are created equal... you should read your motherboard's manual for which sata port to use, which has intel sata III controller, and make sure you set up the ports in AHCI mode from the BIOS prior to installing OS.
