Hi guys,

I just purchased my first dedicated soundcard and went with the Asus Xonar DG.

I used to use the onboard card with speakers and a desk mic plugged in the back and headphones plugged into the front port on the case.

My question is how can I achieve the following scenario:

1. I would like my nice headphones (ATH M40x) plugged directly into the soundcard in the back.
2. I would like my speakers (Logitech LS21) plugged directly into the soundcard in the back.
3. I would like my desk mic plugged directly into the back
4. I would like to be able to plug in my gaming headphones into the front port in the case.

So far I've only been able to hear sound through my M40x's and I don't know how to switch between output devices.

Any help is appreciated.

This will work if your speakers are running through a single or dual aux connection.

1 - Connect your headphones through the green port (line in) on the sound card.
2 - Connect your speakers through the black (side), and orange (Center & Sub) ports on the sound card.
3 - Head into the Xonar audio centre and make sure these preferences are set:
- Audio channels = 2 Channels
- Analog Out = 4 Speakers

So this is the best outcome I've been able to setup, and mind you I have a DGX so this may be slightly different to what you may need to do.

Essentially if you look in the audio mixer in audio centre you should have 4 channels you can adjust (left, right, rear left, and rear right). Left and right will be the levels going through your headphones and the rear ones will be the speakers.

I havn't confirmed this, but I think there will be a slight loss in directional sound through the headphones with this setup, so if you want to switch to solely using the headphones you will need to swap the Analog Out to Headphones.

Hope this helped.
