Question Setting up fan speed on a motherboard

Hello.

There’s this case that I’m interested in that has a total of four fans, three in the front and one in the back and the only way to control them is via the motherboard.
However not all motherboards come equipped with four chassis fans headers, so assuming I’d purchase one with only three headers, what I would like to know is whether or not it is safe and generally okay/recommended to only set up the three fans in the front so they slow down and get quieter under a predetermined temperature threshold, while the one in the back runs at full speed pretty much all the time?

As you have noticed I have zero experience with these things so I apologise if my question is more confusing that it should be, or stupid.

Edit: by the way do all motherboards manufacturers let users tinker with their fans like that? Is there one better or with more options than the others?
