So I've got an old Netgear AC1000 R6080 router and I want to set it up temporarily as a bridge so I can get the WiFi card working in my linux box. Going through the settings it has, under Advanced Settings, options for VLAN/Bridge settings. So I'm looking at this and I'm thinking ok it's not as straight forward as I remember setting up a bridge as being.
I've got it connected to the machine via a patch cable, I've got the admin settings open on the router, I want to use the router to connect to my existing wifi network. The options it gives for bridge are in this shot:
Wired Devices : Port 1, Port2, Port3, Port4
Wireless: WiFi 2.4G, WiFi 5G
(can't post a screenshot but those are the options given under By Bridge Group)
I'm thinking if I click on 2G or 5G with a check mark I'd get the option to connect to the existing WiFi network and all would be good. But alas that is not what happens. I'm not given any option to put in the existing network. Am I missing something? I've used DD-WRT on another old router to enable bridge mode and it was simple. I'm thinking I am completely missing something.
Any ideas? Has anyone setup an AC1000 as a bridge?
Can anyone help on this one?
Thanks...
