Hi,
My 2Tb Seagate died, so I'm replacing it with another 2 Tb. I've already started the restore process.
I'd like to get a 2nd drive, and do a Raid 1 mirror setup. My motherboard (http://) supports it.

My question is, do I need to start with 2 empty drives? Or can I have 1 drive with data, and add the 2nd drive and set them to Raid?

Solution
Create the RAID first with empty drives, then the data.

Although...the usefulness of a RAID 1 is suspect. You also need a full backup.
A dead drive is only one of the many forms of data loss.
