i've got an assorted group of devices that i want to connet to share 1 wifi signal (only allowed 1 connection). i think i'm struggling with direction of signal flow.

Ideally something like this:

I catch the wifi on my laptop, then share my internet connection OUT laptop 10/100 to router and wire the other devices straight to the router.

Should it be "plug & play" even with 4 different species and os (winXP , win10pro, samsung smart w/wifi, lg.smart w/apps.but no wireless - wired 10/100 only)
..............back to signal directionality for handshaking (?).

any advice....

Bit confusing about exactly what you have, "netgear 4 port" what? Is it just switch or a router? Why can you only connect one device to the WiFi signal? is this not your setup? Need some more details about the full setup, and how/where all this stuff is located.
