I have bought M4A785. Here is a correction to your review:

"The most irritating drawback is a CPU fan plug that seems unnecessarily far from the CPU at the very top right of the board, and is positioned so that the memory modules lie between the CPU fan connector and the fan."

It is an PSU fan connector at the top right corner. CPU fan connector is ok, on top of the CPU.

Another correction, using the newest bios for the Biostar TA785GE 128M dated 10/27/2009 (and possibly older bios versions as well, I have only confirmed on the newest), simply go to the CPU FID/VID Control option in the T-series menu. Enable Custom p-states, and this will give you multiplier control plus several other new controls for the processor. Great article, made me run to Fry's and buy the Biostar. Thanks!

I have this Gigabyte right here, very satisfied with it so far, I'm doing 3.7 Ghz @ 1.35V with an Athlon II X4 620 Deneb based, with L3 cache unlocked. Nice feature that EC Firmware Hybrid!

Still, this guide is kinda shallow about CPU overclock, i missed the maximum HTT test and the maximum CPU overclock test...

Thanks - this is really useful! I am an *old* girl who hates the innards of pcs, but I still wanted to check the spec of my next purchase - so I'm also now a happy bunny.

I have "ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO". Overclocked IGP (anything over 500MHz) turns VC1(DXVA transform filter enabled) encoded movie to set of green squares. At least Win7 does good job to distribute load to all 4 CPU cores, so i still can enjoy smooth playback.
IGP overclocks up to 1000 MHz without any artefacts, with chipset voltage increased (~1.205V) system would not boot.
I miss 4th fan connector. Also it would be great to have independent speed regulation for each fan in a BOIS.

Ta785GE is having a CPU multiplier setting. It is under T-Series in bios.and then to CPU Fid/Vid control. The mobo is very nice for gamers on budget.
