My pc components:
Hard drive: st1000dm003-1ch162 ata device
GPU: MSI GTX 680 twin frozrr III
CPU: i7 3770 3.4 ghz
Ram: 8 gigs
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G43 military class III
Power unit: XFX pro 650 WATT XXX edition semi modular

So i just upgraded my GPU to the gtx 680, but after i installed it onto my pc, it started operating really slowly. I literaly cant play any games whatsoever compared to before. And this shoulda been an improvement. I did a clean install to the drivers, and i am pretty sure i installed it correctly. I suspect that its my harddrive which is 2 slow to process the data from my gpu and cpu now,,, is that true? if not what is the issue then? i am also scanning for viruses even though i dont think thats the issues

Solution

Uninstall driver standart, and use Driver Sweeper after Uninstall driver.
Download and install last driver.

Yes if you reinstall OS you need install all programs, but is best solution.
Well its definitely not bottlenecking, the i7 3770 is more than enough for a 680. I have no idea what your issue is without more info. What is going on in task manger? cpu usage while its slow? RAM usage? Disk usage? Also get something like gpu-z go to the sensors tab and get the core clock speed, gpu temp, and gpu usage while its being slow.

1. Delete old driver and clean the remains drive sweeper.
2. Run GPU-Z and furmark, monitoring temperature if temp above 90 maybe need clean cooling system.

For delete soft bug, reinstall OS, if bug not disappear. Problem in hardware (probably video card).

This is how task manager and gpu z looks when i am not gaming:

Do you think the harddrive could be the one causing the problem?

its not going over 30 degrees.. i think ill check if i have the cabels done correctly

What is a softbug?

The gpu is not being put under load for whatever reason, in the pics of how it looks when gaming look at the gpu core clock its sitting at arounnd 300mhz it should be well over 900mhz when under load. As to what may be causing that im not sure, are you sure the new gpu was installed properly? You have all its power connetors plugged in? Are you absolutly sure you have the correct drivers this is what you should have: http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/97759

Also make sure its not running on integrated graphics.

Error in OS\game\programm.

GPU not load in the game weird.

You run GPU-Z after the game?

It uses 2 6 pin connecters which is connected like this right?

Also the fans are running when i turn on the pc so i dont think it is running on integrated graphics. But just to be sure then where do i check?

What was your old GPU??
If amd did you clean all old drivers properly?
GTX 650 ti and i did a cleaninstall of the drivers

You run GPU-Z after the game?
nope while the game was running

Yeah the HDMI cord from my monitor is going into the GPU.. this is pretty frustrating

Run and screen GPU-Z "Graphics card".

Click "?" run test and screen here.

Good load correct and temp normal, and PC use 680.

But game not use 680 very strange.

I repeat recommendation:
1. Delete old driver and clean the remains drive sweeper. Install last driver on official site. Reinstall OS.

Yeah I agree thats what I would be doing. Seems like a weird issue thats likely software related so if a nice clean install of the drivers didn't work then I would probably go ahead and reinstall the whole OS, that should clear it up hopefully. I cant think of anything else you can try.

I know i probaly sound very dumb but...How would i go about doing that? "And clean reamins of drive sweeper"? Does it mean doing a normal clean install like the one nvidia offers?. Also how do i reinstall the OS? And if i do will i need to re install all the programs i have again?
