hi

i am running an sbs2000 installation with a second win2k member server on
the domain.
I am experiencing seriou issues with the sbs server: for example: cannot
acces network and dial-up connetions control panel - the window hangs;
cannot start or stop services sucessfully (they show up as starting or
stopping forever); cannot change the startup properties for a server - the
window hangs when saving the settings and the new settings are not saved;
cannot install drivers and software setup hangs, takes 18 minutes to boot
up, etc etc

I've already re-installed the server from scratch and at first it works
great but then at some point this defective behaviour starts again.
It seems to me that it happens somewhere during the installation of windows
updates, i believe (this first started after performing a windows update
about 6 months).

This server also runs Symantec Antivirus Server and Symantec Antivirus for
Microsoft Exchange. From the client side it seems fine: shares work fine,
Outlook works fine and Internet access works reasonably well but the server
is at a true headache to administer.

Has anyone had this kind of problems?
I would trully appreciate your feedback on this matter

thanks
pedro

BTW: it's a compaq proliant ml350 g2 server with 1gb RAM and has 2 nicks:
one built in and another for external network (internet) access. We even
replaced the motherboard but still no sucess.

Hi Pedro,

Please post the ipconfig/all from the server. Make sure you don't scan or
backup the M-drive. Make sure you exclude the Exchange folder from anti
virus.
