I would like to build a computer in this case, because I think it looks really nice and would fit perfectly on my desk:

Fractal DesignTerra Mini ITX Case

My two requirements for the next year are to play Civilization 7 and the new Assassin's Creed game at 1440p. Looking for tips on where to start with CPU and GPU, then I can put together the rest of the pieces. Totally agnostic as to brand.

I don't have any parts to recycle since I gave away my last computer, which had a Ryzen 5 5600X and a 1660Ti. Both were totally fine for my needs for Civ 6 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla at 1440.

Right now I'm working with this little gem, but it's not going to cut it when I want to play games again (SER6 Max mini pc)

Please stylize your thread with info asked of in this thread;
and the community can move forward with suggestions. Please mention where you're located, what your absolute budget for the build is and what your preferred site for purchase is. A follow up post in this thread would bring people responding or watching up to speed.

All of these parts fit together assuming the fractal design manual about dimensions and compatibility are 100% precise. Undervolt and downclock the CPU to keep temps in control although you may not have to considering this review. What is your budget?

Thanks! This is really helpful to start with. I think I would try to cut the budget by not going quite as top of the line with the CPU and GPU. Maybe a 4060 and Ryzen 7?

I don't have a specific budget in mind, but I don't need to go way beyond what I need right now and can always upgrade in a few years.

Civ VII is supposed to be a very CPU intense game for the turns. I am not sure I completely believe it but Tomshardware reported that it can use as many as 16 cores/32 threads. I assume the game is also going to need a decent amount of Graphics card power like shown in the article. Here is a significantly down costed, although still very nice, PC.
