"shadow" on my new lcd monitor

lg 204wt-sf



this happens only on the left side, visible only on medium-intensity colors (almost unnoticeable on white and black, and even on the standard windows widgets "light gray"). it goes continously from the top to the bottom.

*maybe* on the right side the foremost pixels are a little too bright, maybe.

what could it be?
lamp? crystal matrix?


do you suggest to exchange it with another 204wt-sf?
this one has no dead or hot pixels, i'm a bit concerned about swapping it... the vendors of course do not allow me to test them before buying

Mura problem typically seen with TN panels. In this particular case it would be called V-mura.
This type of mura is usually seen at top 1-inch of screen across top.
Known issue with LPL panels seen with 19+ sizes.
Panel supplier process control issue.
A lot of the time V-mura (banding) will show up in the center of the screen. Monitor suppliers are supposed to screen for this but sometimes it's overlooked. Everyone is in a rush these days.
No guarantee it will get any better with new monitor/panel.
Insist on checking it first. Use full gray(med dark) pattern.

You can try to exchange it, but the next monitor may develop the same symptom.

so if i understand correctly it's a panel problem....

the med-gey uniform pattern reveals the shadow quite well, but it's not dramatic.

using a pattern made of stripes


the shadow is definitely there, but i think i can live with it, especially if there are worse alternatives...

i doubt it, but, just for sake of curiosity....

is it known if my type of mura can be at least partially healed with some form of software pixel/column/row massage? (ala pixelfixer or similar)?

Hi,
I am getting the same issue with my lap top.
2 inch of dull / shade color on the left side of Think Pad.
Did you correct / replace your LCD screen?
Is it ok to replace the LCD or the cable which connects the LCD to the CPU?

LCD Monitor Shadow Effect

This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and moitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.

Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.

Thank you very much too Anonymous user!! You've just solved my long-standing problem, I was getting crazy, I tried all sort of settings on the display and on the operating system...but nothing ever solved or changed...
Actually, the power and vga cable used to be very closed, but now that I've put them a bit farther away...the problema has been magically solved!! No more shadows on my lcd screen!

Have learned the hard way that good quality cables are a must if you want really good quality on both picture (video), sound and data transfer. Its important to use magnethic interference free cables (stops the electrical noise from interfering with the surroundings) to every sensitive hardware like a TV, PC monitor, your $3000 home cinema surround sound system etc.

Brands like Itec and Monster Cable only use the best quality inside their cables for clear transmission and those cables does not interfer with other cables to other components. OK, they are very expensive - but pays back twice as soon you replace your standard cable. I´ve got two times better video and sound from my digital box into my TV, using a Itec HDMI cable than using the cable that came with the TV.

yippee....I tried this to overcome with LCD shadowing prblm...and its sorted out...but almost 85% but I m still very happy..
