I am having an issue with shadow detail changing during game play and texture pop in. I understand some pop in is normal but what i am seeing is crazy. Also, when moving the game character around, im a getting a change in the shadow details as i hit a certain distance from the shadow. When I hit a certain distance they get clear and change back if i move away. Drives me insane. My system before I upgraded was as follows:

i7 930 Bloomfield OC to 3.8ghz, Asus P658xd Premium Mobo, Samsung 840 PRO, Corsair 750hx, Gskill Ripsaw 24GB RAM, ASUS 24" 144hz monitor, 2 EVGA GTX 480 in Sli. windows7 pro

I upgraded to solve the issue but to no avail. Upgraded to the following:
Asus z97-Deluxe Mobo, 4790k Devil's Canyon CPU, Samsung 840 PRO, Corsair 750Hx PSU, 32 GB Gskill Trident 2400 RAM, Asus ROG Swift 27" G-Sync Monitor, 2 EVGA GTX 780 Sli.
windows 7 pro.

My new setup seems to be worse that the previous build. I tried almost everything. Control panel settings, reinstall windows, driver updates, switching GPU's and using only one. Reseat CPU, got a water cooler for CPU. It goes on and on. I see online others have this issue and seems to be no answer. My PSU has 62a on the 12v rail: is this enough for 2 780's? Please, someone help

I think I'm having the same thing, and I'd LOVE to have an answer. I have a similar mobo to you, and same processor.
Here's my thread about it, see if it's anything like what you're experiencing.

I also link to two videos I recorded, tell me if those are similar to what you are seeing too.

I am seeing very similar stuff. Saints Row 4 texture pop is insanely bad. Borderlands Pre-sequel shadow texture issue is unplayable for me. I will try to post videos when I get home from work.

I cannot for the life of me find anyone else complaining about these... Everyone acts like this is normal. Is it just this common and expected to see shadow and texture pop in like this in tons of AAA titles? I didn't see it in Sniper Elite 3, and it's much less noticeable in BF4, but good god, i see it in so many titles.

I recorded the gameplay footage and uploaded to youtube. Just having an issue getting this forum to recognize URL. Didn't get to play with it much but i will try again tonight. I'm interesting in your thoughts when you see it.

Should be able to just copy and paste the video URL, it will automatically Hyperlink itself
If that doesn't work, give me your youtube username, that could work too.

tried to copy it, but forum won't accept it. video posting is very new to me, first time. Channel is "Anthony G." only 3 videos of Borderlands. The quality could be better, like I said still learning.

OK, got it done. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

duh. Figured it out.

Yep, looks like what I have

I tend to see much harsher renderings than just little ambient shadows too.
Do you see objects like, render their textures as well as ambient shadows too, like entire mountains gaining rigidity and rocky details before your eyes? That's what I've been seeing in BF4, as well as an "invsibile start line" that decides the starting point of shadow rendering on the ground at like 20ft in front of my character... I can see the invisible line cut the shadows in half before me as it renders them shadows again when they get closer to me.

Just horrible pop in. Do You have any more extreme cases in other games you've played? I see it worst in Far Cry, Enemy Front, and Battlefield. On the other hand, I didn't have a single issue with Sniper Elite V3 or Dead Space 3...

The texture pop in I get with Saints Row 4 is making the game unplayable. I also get the shadow pop with Crysis 3. I re-installed windows so I deleted all my games. I will post a Saints Row video later, but all my other games are not installed right now.

I read of lots of people who reinstalled their entire PC's, and even built all new PC's from all new parts and still got these glitches...
Keep me updated, I'd love to know if these rendering glitches improve with you. You had these Texture pops with your old computer parts as well?
Odd thing is it's not just Nvidia brand associated, I have an r9 290 and I see the same odd renderings.

Maybe it's supposed to be like this in these games and we're the ony ones who care to notice them? It justs seems very extreme in some games to see such rendering on ultra settings on even the year's most advanced PC titles... This is something I'd expect from Console gaming, not high end PC.

I agree, with the horsepower my PC has, I should not be seeing these things. It does seem that people are just accepting this as the norm. Crazy to me because I stopped using consoles for that reason. I want better graphics and resolutions. I was getting the same problems with the old setup and thats why i dumped a bunch of money into new equipment. I'm very annoyed with this.

I've asked people in a few lobbies of BF4 and apparently they all know that the texture and rendering problems are there in BF4, some didn't notice, but those that did say it's always been like that...

At least you have a fresh build now with the market's best monitor and double the horsepower of my 290 (i need another, haha). Were just gonna have to ignore it is the general consensus I'm getting from people. Most likely it's the games and their engines themselves and not our system installs or hardware.
I agree, very annoying

My frame rates are great and the system performs well. I'm the type of person who will let these little quirks ruin the experience for me. I get hung up on the imperfections and just shut it off. I'm a little bit of a crazy person. I installed Crysis 3 just to see if i would get the shadows and I did. Didn't notice it until I got outside in the dome though. Uninstalled it. I did have everything cranked up and in the Nvidia control panel I had everything on and cranked. Game looked amazing at 2560x1440 and I was steady at 60Fps. Those damn shadow pop-ins just kill me.
G-Sync is amazing by the way. No going back from it. AMD has a similar technology coming out soon(Freesync).

yeah, I'm waiting for Freesync to come out to upgrade my monitor to 1440p or 4k.

Shadow pop ins seem to be in nearly every game I play, guess I'm gonna have to try and ignore them :/

I have been doing some more research and have found something you may want to try. It has helped my problems to some degree. I have been editing the "Willow INI" files using info found on some forums. You can tweek a lot of parameters and force certain things like types of AA. I found a way to move the shadow pop further away from the character and change a ton of other things. Shadow resolution, texture pop distance, FOV, and on and on. Must be careful what you change and always backup the INI file before you change it. It's just a text file.

Also using something called "SweetFX" which is a whole other awesome bag of tricks. Youtube videos to walk you through the whole thing.

Hmm, you went far more in depth with it than I did. I only got one 290 though, so I don't want to increase render distances since it could negatively impact my performance and I don't have a lot to spare if I want to hold over 60 in some titles.

I've heard of SweetFX, but never tried it. Maybe some options in there could help a lot with shading.

Offtopic, but:
Do you happen to know what onboard amplifier Crystal Sound 2 has on it? Your mobo is one step ahead of mine and we have near identical onboard audio.
Trying to find out the impedance that the Op-Amp on the board can drive. I just got a DT 990 and don't know if it is strong enough to power it a whole 250ohms.
I hear the ROG and Formula Asus Mobos have up to 600ohms, but Asus tells nothing of the Signature line's limits that you and I have.
