I am running windows 7 home premium on my laptop and windows 7 pro on my desktop. I recently had to reset my laptop back to factory defaults. Before doing this my computer could connect to the home group on my desktop, now it doesn't even see the home group. I called the manufacturer of my laptop but they were worse than useless. they wanted be to contact someone else and pay for help when my computer is under warranty. Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Enforcer, with the other computer on and connected to your LAN, try to run the Homegroup troubleshooter. Disable any anti virus or firewall while doing it (remember to enable them after done)

You may have to leave and re-create your homegroup to get it working. I know I had a bit of trouble with that myself... but leaving the homegroup on both computers, recreating it on the desktop and then joining my laptop to it with the password got it working.
