Sharp 70” locks out

This tv is about 5 years old and this is the first problem I’ve had. The remote control and panel controls lock out. I’ve done a soft reset (unplug the tv for a couple minutes) and everything works for a few minutes before locking out again. When the controls work, everything works. When the controls do not work, everything appears to be working fine I just have no control. Any ideas?

But also, why do the physical controls lock out as well when this is happening? Especially if it’s just remote batteries?

This:

"everything works for a few minutes before locking out again.."

My thought is that after a few minutes of operation some common component within the TV that serves both the remote control functions and the physical control functions simply heats up and the controls fail.

A common power source would be a likely culprit.
