My shift key has been acting up for at least 2 days and ever since I started playing video games, it acts funky. Whenever I press Shift (as it is default for sprinting or using a command in game), I am unable to press escape, enter or any other button until I press shift again. I'm not sure why this problem occurs, but I can give a couple examples in my games.

League of legends - Pressing Shift freezes the game and shows the windows cursor instead of the in game cursor.
Rainbow Six Siege - Pressing Shift sprints, but until I let go of the key and I am unable to press any other button
Overwatch - Pressing Shift and I am unable to press any other button and the windows cursor appears in the middle.

This problem never happened until the date, December 19, 2017. Not sure what I did, but I started streaming and I've installed Streamlab (Which is a addon for streaming) and adobe photoshop. Pressing shift acts as if It was Alt - Tabbed, but it is not. I hope to resolve this issue asap. Thanks

Solution
When you press shift with the on screen keyboard (accessability) open, do any of the other keys light up? It sounds like something is messed up at Windows level if you can replicate the issue on two different keyboards.

You could make a linux live CD/USB with rufus and boot to it. If doesnt happen on another OS you'd know the issue is in Windows or a program or driver in your OS

Do you have have sticky keys turned on? Have a look in Ease of access center -> make keyboard easier to use, and ensure that it is off.

Could be a physical issue with the keyboard itself. This could be verified by trying another keyboard.

Are you using DISCORD ? if thats the case you should turn off the OVERLAY or change its TOGGLE on some other button since the default is SHIFT.
