Hello,
Some kind of virus affected my laptop. Shift Key is mostly in pressed condition (I checked in virtual keyboard also). Sometimes, it changes by default for some time. Letters can be typed using CAPS lock in reverse - CAPS 'ON' types 'a' and 'OFF' types 'A' but numbers are difficult to type. The window button is inactive. Downloads are not allowed. Right now, I am typing from a different laptop. In the affected laptop, AVG free antivirus is loaded but it is not detecting any virus. If any antivirus would be helpful, please suggest. The laptop has only 512 MB of RAM.

You need to make a bootable CD with an anti-virus on it. Quick workaround would be to download and copy McAfee Avert Stinger to it (free). Set it to exclude nothing and will run a full scan. Removing the virus does not always guarantee system files were not damaged. If you still have problems post again. However, the Stinger may not detect the virus, you can also try MBAM for spyware and rootkits.
Use your good PC to download and copy the files. Disconnect affected computer from internet, if wireless, disable it, if wired, unplug it, virii have the capability to support decisions from source and block you from cleaning it. Sever all connections before attempting a cleanup. No removable media on it either (Except closed CDs).
