FYI: the red bar can be turned off under 'Settings'. Just select Full Screen Mode. Much better.

Zooming still sucks though

[citation][nom]Hilarion[/nom]I would say that the only reason they approved it then, was to make their own browser look so good that Opera mini would be rejected by the Apple Almighty Sheeple vindicating Apple Almighty's so-called "wisdom" about what to approve.[/citation]
I agree...
One thing however.. internet browsing on the iphone using safari is great. I used to use iphone and now have a Blackberry and have used Opera... it blows.

Safari on the iphone is really pretty good.. best phone browser i have used. Destroys Opera and the Blackberry browser.

Similar thoughts. The menu is pretty nice once you set the browser to Fullscreen mode.

It would be a much better browser if it had intermediate zoom like Safari does.

in case anybody reads down this far,

Opera mini is pretty good. The UI for tabbed browsing as well as for the "back button" feature is impressive.

As for font rendering, it doesn't waste tiem and processing power "re-rendering" the font every time you zoom ever so slightly.

Opera handles large pages or graphically intense pages very well, and is FAR faster on my regular 3G iPhone than Safari is.

In short, they fix zoom (which is rather fine for me, tbh, but i'm young w/ young eyes) and I'd say it's far sexier than Safari.

I like it and will be using it as my primary browser. I like the tabs and the very fast page load (not as fast as the advertised video but still much faster then safari. At first i was confused about the zoom feature but then noticed that all the text on websites lines up into this nice neat size perfect for the screen. Its much faster to use then zooming in and out till you get all the text lined up so you can read in comfortably in safari. it also makes browsing and article reading with just one hand much faster. Though i do like the zoom its got with the text formating, i do wish it had another separate zoom function like safari for when you just need to zoom in more. Also i wish web pages that you previously load in tabs would stay there to be viewed offline instead of go away just like it is in safari. (im on the itouch so if no wifi no viewing web pages even if they were previously loaded)

For those with zoom issues on Opera, go into Tools>Settings and enable Mobile View.

Mobile view is not always ideal but may help some people. I find Opera a faster browser experience.
