Shop Vac for blowing dust out of computer

Is it safe to use a shop vac as a substitute for the computer dusters? I'm not puting it close enough where it can blow parts off the mobo, but close enough where it can get the dust out.

I'm just worried about static,etc, i dont know.

I would not do it because I have seen things blow out of shop vacs, Dust, Dirt, Debris, and like you mentioned the static. All of this also compounds the fact that the shop vac can not focus and force the air where it needs to be for a good cleaning. Other options are air from a compressor with a water filter, I personally always open my drain valve after using my shop compressor to prevent water build up so I don't need the water filter. A can of compressed air will work the best for tight hard to get spots.

I've used a shop vac several times, close up, and never had an issue, not once. As long as your shop vac has a filter you're fine, plus, a little dirt (if that) going in isn't going to be worse than all the dust coming out. I wouldn't worry about static, I'm not offering any warranty, but like I said, I've done it a ton of times without issue. As for directing flow, pull out the crevice tool and you'll have a fine time
