Short Circuited Motherboard

Hello all,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 and i believe i short-circuited the mobo unfortunately.

The laptop power port (where the AC adapter plugs in) has a small plastic piece that separates different pins. Unfortunately, this plastic degraded and broke off, leaving nothing to separate the pins (assuming some were plus and some were minus). Long story short, I did not realize that this plastic was missing and plugged the power into my laptop, and was met with instant power-off and a burnt smell. When i now turn on the laptop with no power, the laptop beeps twice shuts off.

I believe i have shorted my mobo (correct me if im wrong), and the cpu/ram is soldered in this particular model. I am thinking of buying a replacement mobo on ebay for ~150, but I am scared if any other parts may have been damaged. Am i better off buying a brand new laptop at this point? Or will the replacement mobo (comes with cpu/ram as well) solve the problem?

Luckily I was able to replace the plastic cap separating the pins so i am confident that if i do get a new mobo, it wont happen again.

Thanks for the help!
