Build Advice Should I build a new PC?

Trying to work out if I should build a new pc and pass on my current gaming PC to my wife, for context me and my wife are both on Windows10 and it’s support is ending which is why I am contemplating a new build and passing my build onto my wife upgraded to Win11, because her current PC cannot do Win11.

My wifes build:
i7-8700k
MSI Z370 Gaming M5 mobo
32gb Corsair Vengence DDR4 3466
Samsung 960 Evo SSD 250GB x2
Corsair RM850X PSU
Corsair 4000X case
Win10 pro
RX580 8gb
and a 32" 60Hz Monitor.
She only plays games like Civilization and other similar games along with web browsing.

My current build:
i7 12700k
MSI MPG Z690 Mobo
2TB Samsung 970 SSD
EVGA 3080 12gb
32gb Corsair Dominator DDR5 5600 CL36
Corsair HX1000 PSU
MSI MAG 240R AIO
Cosair 5000X case with 4 RGB fans, 3 non rgb fans
and 2x LG 27” 240hz IPS monitors.
I play at 1440p.

My usage is mainly, playing World of Warcraft, streaming videos, web browsing and occasionally I work in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. I also work in sign master (vinyl plotting software).

My proposed new build is
Ryzen 7 9800x3d
ASrock X870E Taichi
64gb Gskill Trident Z5
Corsair 5000x Case
EVGA Supernova 1200 PSU
WD Black 2TB SN850X
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 AIO
Win11 Pro
and 7 asiahorse RGB fans.
And I will reuse my 3080 12gb till the 5 series cards aren’t disappearing at light speed or I'll wait for the new AMD cards to release.

Since I am re-using my 3080 12gb I would probably look at getting the wife a RTX 3060 or something around that since her graphics usage is much lower.

The option of not building a new PC and paying Microsoft $30 per PC for another year of Win10 support is there also.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Honestly, support for Windows 10 doesn't run out until the end of this month. So that's the time frame I'd look for an upgrade/rebuild. So that's like a good 11 months from now.

IMHO, you should stick to what you have, keep saving up and then pull the trigger, after you've asked around again for parts suggestions or opinions on your part's selection then.

Unless I am missing something here...

Windows 10 is supported into October of this year. Lack of support isn't really going to be a huge concern for at least a couple of months, and even then can be sidelined with the use of aftermarket products. Also, BOTH of these systems are W11 ready.

It REALLY isn't a big deal. (W11 I mean)

My wifes PC the i7-8700k is not compatible with win11.

You guys do realise that the excuse for getting a new pc has just been blown out of the water, how will Tolls persuade his good lady that is necessary now? /joking
Haha no it's all good, I build a new PC when I choose to, but right now I am fine with my PC and she's fine with hers, but I thought hers wasn't win11 compatible but apparently I need to verify the bios version and settings and it should be fine.

Since I am not a HEAVY gamer in the sense of many different types/titles/styles I am fine with what I have for now if I can get both PCs up to win11 when I have to in October.

Now I can find something else to spend around $2500 on though!

Ok so got home, updated bios, got TMP enabled, but when I turn on secure boot mode, it just loops bios it will not boot from the 960Evo SSD in M2_1 slot?? Oh and I checked the drives they are all on the current firmware for the SSDs.
