I was looking for a good gaming computer that can hopefully run any game on high setting, because the one i have now is not that good. And i was thinking of buying a dell xps 8700, but i was not sure if i should buy it or not the specs look great but i am not really an expert on pc's.

Specs:
Intel Core i7-4790 3.60GHz
16GB of DDR3
2TB HD
4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745

Should i buy this computer?

Solution
Probably not.
As good as the cpu is, you need a good discrete graphics card to run at high settings.
The GTX745 is only an entry level card. And... usually a prebuilt will not have a psu strong enough to install anything much stronger than what the original configuration used.
Other threads on that subject say that GPU is a rebranded gtx 640 so it's super weak for gaming at 1080. If you get it, will need to replace the GPU asap but might also need a new PSU depending on the card you get and the psu that comes with the desktop.

Could probably get a better balanced build doing it yourself.

Solution
As the solution states you're probably better off building your own PC. I on the other hand got a deal for my Dell XPS 8700 for $600 vs the normal cost of $1200 I believe. I recently just upgraded the PSU to eventually get a better GPU next year, I'm hoping on the Nvidia GTX 960.

Specs:
Intel Core i7-4790 3.60GHz
12GB of DDR3
1TB HD
250GB Samnsung 840EVO SSD
2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750ti SC
CD/DVD +RW
Pioneer BDR 2209 BD/DVD/CD
19-in-1 internal media card reader

UPGRADES:
Dell OEM PSU 460W - EVGA SuperNova 750 G2 $69 (tax+ship included)

ADD-ON:
Samsung 840EVO 250GB SSD $104 (tax+ship included)

OVERALL: $69+$104 = $173 + $600 (Original Dell XPS 8700) = $773

I would like to think I still saved a lot versus building my OWN PC then again I got all my upgrades/add-ons during sales+blackfriday & got a major sale on the DELL XPS 8700 (non-SE).

Eventually I will probably keep my upgraded parts & build my own PC with whats inside of the system I have at the moment. I believe the CPU is not OEM so I may be able to move it to another motherboard.
