I have a hp probook 440 g5 (i5 - 8250U - 8gb ram - 512 hd and 256 ssd). The battery is currently really bad and does not last long if not attached to power cord.
It's a work laptop - frequent use - mostly office package (word + powerpoint + microsoft teams), web browsing, instagram post creator (canva), and zoom.
I've been thinking of buying a Asus Vivobook GO 15 (Ryzen 5-7520U + 16gb ram + 512 ssd).
My question is: do i need a new laptop or can my old one still handle a bit more?

Work laptop? Who owns the laptop?

If you are not self-employed then I would expect that your employer would be responsible for providing a replacement laptop.

= = = =

When not connected to the charger, how long does the battery last?

How old is the laptop and, perhaps more important, is how old is the battery?

Is a replacement battery something that could be considered?

Do some testing.

The laptop is mine. And the replacement, should i buy one, would also de paid by me.
The battery lasts about 2 hours.
I bought the PC in 2018.
As to the replacement - the battery and service to replace is not very cheap, so i would only change it if this laptop could handle another year or two.

6 year old battery - correct?

It may be in EOL (End of Life) if not beyond.....

Not sure about "service" to replace the battery: Generally the old battery is removed and the new battery installed just as if you had an extra battery.

Barring some other problem within the laptop.

Are you able to run the HP tests, etc.?

Results?

What would a new battery and charger cost in your area (not asking about where you live), just the costs.

How much are you willing to spend or otherwise budget for a new laptop?

Trade-offs being costs and risks.....

And all laptop data is being backed up and verified recoverable and readable - correct?
