New Windows tablets that are yet to be released will be using Intel's Cherry Trail Atom CPU which is the successor to the Bay Trail generation Atom CPUs used in current generation Windows tablets (like the Asus Transformer you are looking at). To the best of my knowledge, the only tablet currently using the Intel Cherry Trail Atom CPU is the Surface 3 which Microsoft released about 2 months ago.

The difference between Cherry Trail and Bay Trail is basically the graphics performance. Based on some synthetic benchmarks, the graphics core in the Cherry Trail CPU is almost twice a powerful as the graphics core in the Bay Trail CPU. The Transformer is a good choice, and it will be awhile before USB3.1 becomes 'the standard' . I've got the TF701-T and also a MeMO Tablet and love both of them. Had them a little over a year now and I figure they'll be around for another year or more, before I pass them on to someone

Based on some synthetic benchmarks, the graphics core in the Cherry Trail CPU is almost twice a powerful as the graphics core in the Bay Trail CPU. However, I believe actual graphics performance is much less than that and will vary depending on the application / game. Regarding the CPU's processing performance, the is only a marginal increase in performance... so marginal that you need benchmarks to tell the difference.

If playing games on a Windows 8 tablet is a high priority, then wait for new tablets using the Cherry Trail generation CPU to be released. If gaming is not that important to you, then just buy something that is currently available because other than graphics performance there is not too much of a difference in performance between the two Atom generation CPUs.
